Fighting pediatric cancer with hope, research, and community
HeroBuds is a charitable foundation in the Lehigh Valley, PA, dedicated to raising funds and awareness for pediatric cancer research and support. We transform local community action into a powerful force for scientific progress and family support.
Our Story
The story of HeroBuds begins with the inspiring journey of Emily FaRannte. After being diagnosed with cancer at the age of 11, Emily decided she wanted a friend with her during her treatment; a squishmallow named Rosie. Rosie was able to be with Emily during all of her scans and tests, even when she was sleeping, bringing a level of comfort to a scary time. During her time at the hospital, Emily made many friends and wanted them all to have their own huggable friend too! Thus, Emily's Hug Mee Drive was born!
After collecting thousands of squishmallows for local children at Reilly's Children Hospital and the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, we decided to expand upon the original mission of Emily's Hug Mee Drive and make it even bigger! Kids deserve better treatment and pediatric cancer needs more awareness and research, and that is exactly what HeroBuds will do.
Our hope is that by spreading awareness, raising funds, and connecting our Lehigh Valley community and beyond, HeroBuds can truly be a positive force for good. It is time to bring awareness to September, which is pediatric cancer awareness month. Help us turn September golden, help us collect squishmallows, and most importantly, help us bring hope to the incredible children battling cancer in our community!
